      Below is the newest installment of our annual effort to gather together the latest publications relevant to Yiddish Studies in English. It is our hope that this list helps to illustrate the scope of the field across disciplines and historical periods. This book is the first history of YIVO, the original center for Yiddish scholarship. Founded by a group of Eastern European intellectuals after World War I, YIVO became both the apex of secular Yiddish culture and the premier institution of Diaspora Nationalism, which fought for Jewish rights throughout the world at a time of rising anti-Semitism.

      Books by Dawidowicz. Her books include The War Against the Jews , her best-selling history of the Holocaust, and The Holocaust and the Historians, a study of Holocaust historiography. A collection of her essays relating to Jewish history, What Is the Use of Jewish History?, was published posthumously in Alma mater: Hunter College. Editor BEATRICE SILVERMAN WEINREICH () was for many years a research associate at the YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in New York and coeditor of the journal Yiidisher Folklor. She published many articles in academic journals on Yiddish culture and More about Beatrice Weinreich.

      She is a three-time alumna of the Uriel Weinreich Summer Program at the YIVO Institute in New York, and was a Yiddish Book Center Translation Fellow in and Her translations and original writing have appeared, in English and in Yiddish, in The Forward, Afn Shvel, Pakn Treger, and elsewhere.
